Energy Accounting

In a global perspective, energy in all forms is a limited resource. There is both political, environmental and safety as well as economical significance related to this issue.

But even from a company point of view, both the economical value and the environmental significance may substantiate preparation of energy statements. This is particularly important where taxes are introduced, like the CO2 tax system for use of fossil fuels, which is implemented on the Norwegian Continental Shelf.

The energy accounts keep track of all forms of energy demand linked to an activity or a company (electricity, heat, fuel gas, diesel and other fuels or energy carriers). The accounts are linked to a period of one year, or to a production unit such as per Sm3 oil equivalents produced oil and gas.
